Book Review: Money is King by Nicety

Money is King tells the story of Mink and Cesar, and it’s set in Chicago (the best city in the world..but I’m biased because I live here).

Mink is a spoiled ghetto BIOTCH and everytime something bad happens to her your heart will jump with glee. However, when she gets over on someone you can’t help but smile a little. I love an amazing villain. You know the kind of character that you just can’t stand. I love to hate characters, and that’s probably because that’s how I am in real life. Most of my friends are assholes although a lot less rachet.

Cesar is a sexy man that most women would love and cherish. He holds his family down by any means necessary, and he’s loyal. He is in a relationship with Mink, and they have a child together (insert sad groan here).  Unfortunately, he loses his job, and that’s when the whirlwind begins.

Mink’s treachery is shown all throughout this book.  She doesn’t care about anyone but herself, and she’s constantly looking for her next meal ticket. I literally screamed at her at various points throughout.

This book kept me engaged from the beginning until the end. I immediately had to run to read the second one. If you’re looking for a great read with some ghetto drama… this is it. You won’t be disappointed.

Right now you can grab it for your kindle for only .99 cents.  It’s also available in paper back.

Until next time!

No Nonsense Telling It Like It Is- After Christmas Do’s

Now that Christmas is over, here are some helpful tips for my readers with a sense of humor, to get you ready for the new year!

1.  Do eat whatever you want until the New Year because I am sure one of your New Year’s resolutions is to lose weight next year anyway!  You probably won’t start that diet but at least it’s on your list!  E for effort!   So don’t feel bad about eating those extra cookies or pieces of pie! Just don’t get on the scale and you won’t feel so bad!  After all, this is the season to eat, drink and be merry!

2.  Do save those gift bags your presents came in!  There is nothing better than recycling and using them to put gifts in next year.  Just make sure no ones name is on the bag! For all you cheap people, this is a good excuse to “Let’s Go Green!”  If anyone calls you cheap or tries to be politically correct and call you thrifty, just say you are helping the environment!

3.  Do keep that ugly or useless gift you received that you don’t like!  Hey there is nothing wrong with re-gifting for next year!  Another man’s junk is another man’s treasure, right?  Embrace the re-gift!

4.  Do shop for yourself now that the sales are on!  You deserve to treat yourself for all the hard work you did shopping for everyone else!  You need to bring the new year in with style!  You have an image to maintain!

5.  Do start your Christmas shopping early next year and don’t  procrastinate and wait until the last minute rushing to buy gifts, ordering online the week before praying your gifts arrive on time and wrapping gifts with a minute to spare Christmas Eve!  Only an adrenaline junky such as myself would do that!

6.  And most importantly, do have a blessed and prosperous New Year!

No Nonsense Telling It Like It Is- Don’t Forget The Merry in Merry Christmas!

Today, December 25th has been designated through the ages as Christmas Day!  To those of us that believe in Jesus, this is the day set aside to celebrate the birth of Christ!  The Christ child that was born to save the world and forgive us of our sins and faults!  Just like that!  No questions asked!  There is not a better gift!  Christ was born to teach us about unconditional love and forgiveness!  Society has turned this day into buying gifts and spending money that you may or may not have and now people are arguing about whether Santa is Black or White!

Now there is nothing wrong with exchanging gifts with family and friends or letting the kids believe in Santa.  But what about  just saying a kind word or doing a good deed!  It does not matter if you spent hundreds of dollars on gifts trying to impress certain people or buy your kids the biggest toys to make up for not being with them during the year!  You cannot buy real love!  Superficial love maybe but not unconditional love!

To me, Christmas is about showing the love of Christ whether you exchange a lot of gifts or spend a lot of money! Material things you buy do not last!  They break, you outgrow them and even get bored with them and toss them aside or even pass them on to someone else not thinking about what the other person spent or even sacrificed to get you that thing you wanted so much for Christmas!

So on this day regardless of your religious beliefs and how much money you spent on gifts, remember to be Merry!  The Christmas season is about joy and love.  So show some love to someone else and don’t be a selfish Scrooge or Grinch!  You may get love shown back to you and it won’t hurt!

Poetic Justice: Quiet Storm Of Spoken Word

Quiet Storm grew up in a household with both parents and sister, in the city of Wilmington, NC in the late sixties. His sister, Keisha, was his best friend, and she was also nicknamed as, ‘Short Cake.’ They had a close relationship until she was called home during his junior year of high school. After losing his sister, Quiet Storm turned to the gift of music. He sang in the senior high school choir, and he also played the piano after he lost his desire to write.

Twelve years later, he started doing Spoken Word as a form of expression and therapy. He began to feel the need to speak for those who couldn’t articulate themselves to get others to understand the voice that they wanted to portray. He sees himself as a messenger and he wants to execute his gift in making a positive difference in the world.

His inspiration for writing comes from the ups and downs of life because there’s so many who continue to face struggles on the daily. He wants to encourage Aspiring Poets to write their own truth, and never worry about rhymes, scheme, or format. “Just write, establish your own style, and not be concerned about the opinions of others, however, remain humble in all that you do. The best thing that comes from my poetry is when people have messaged me, and letting me know the words that were given by my spirit had stopped them from making a rash, destructive decision, “ he says.

“That is the ultimate part of poetry’s purpose… is to bring healing to those that need to comforted.”

Here’s an audio of his piece called, “Troubled Mind,” featuring Lyriq for your enjoyment!
