New Orleans Cop Shoots Man in Head and Doesn’t Report it

The shooting and killing of young black men by police officers seems to have now become a sport.

According to one report, a black man was shot in the head during a routine traffic stop in Algiers, and the New Orleans Police Department didn’t even report it. Bossip reports via NOLA News the incident might have remained undercover still had it not been for an article published on their news site. It is in response to that article, that NOPD finally issued a written statement saying that Armand Bennett, 26, “was shot” during the traffic stop, and an officer, unnamed by the department, suffered a minor contusion on the right hand.

Bennett, whose injuries is said to be “not life threatening” is still recovering in an intensive care unit, said attorney Nandi Campbell, who visited him in the hospital.

Campbell said that the man’s brother heard two shots fired by a female officer, and that the two of them were confronted by officers with their guns drawn while parked near the Tall Timbers subdivision, where one of the men resides.

There are few details about what actually prompted the confrontation; although the NOPD did reveal on Monday that an officer was wounded on the job, in what the department described as an “officer needs assistance” call. Despite receiving requests for information and records, the police department did not disclose that anyone was shot, nor did they respond to submissions for public records requests by NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.

By Wednesday, the department had not provided the report. The NOPD only confirmed the shooting after this story was published.

The NOPD did say that once Bennett is released from the hospital, he will be booked on five outstanding warrants from Orleans and Jefferson parishes, including possession of marijuana, illegal possession of a weapon, resisting an officer and criminal damage to property.

Wow is it ever going to end! These cops are out of control. What do they think that they don’t have any consequence for their action…that they are above the law? Something really needs to be done about all of this police brutality and flat out murder. They are supposed to serve and protect not murder our community.

Woman Shoots Grandson; Thought He Was An Intruder

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — A grandmother shot and critically wounded her 7-year-old grandson early Tuesday after mistaking him for an intruder who had broken into her home, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Linda Maddox, 63, and her twin grandsons were sleeping in a bedroom at about 1 a.m. after her son, who is the boy’s father, had left for work at the postal service, deputies said. Maddox told deputies she had placed a chair against the bedroom door handle for extra protection while they slept.

When she heard the chair sliding against the wood floor, she assumed it was an intruder and grabbed a loaded .22-caliber revolver she keeps by the bed and fired one shot in the dark toward the door.

Deputies say seconds later she heard her grandson Tyler Maddox scream. He was shot once in the upper body. He was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Cristal Bermudez Nunez said Maddox felt unsafe when her son would work overnight, so she would bring her grandchildren into the bedroom with her and block the door with a leaning chair. She said deputies have been called to the house 12 times since 2011, including a call about a suspicious person on June 20, 2011, and a suspicious vehicle last Jan. 2. None of those calls turned into anything significant, she said.

Neighbor Jonathan Aristizabal, 18, said he has lived in the middle-class community for six months and hasn’t noticed anything that would make him think the area is unsafe. He said he often saw the kids playing in the front yard.

“It’s a big tragedy,” he said. “They’re a really good family.”

Now you talk about tragic. This poor woman! I can only imagine what she is going through knowing that she cause this kind of harm to her grandchild. This story is just disheartening. This is just a lesson for everyone to learn to me more careful with fire arms. What a tragedy!

Torrei Hart Weighs In On Kevin Hart’s Engagement Status + Video Of Her New Man

Monday’s premiere of “Atlanta Exes” on VH1 was supposed to be Torrei Hart’s night. Instead, her shine got partially obscured when her ex-husband, Kevin Hart, shared news of his proposal to his girlfriend Eniko Parrish on Instagram.

Think Torrei is heated over what could be seen as a calculated move to steal her thunder? No way. In fact, VH1’s newest reality TV star has nothing but good words for Kevin and Eniko.

“I think it is beautiful,” said Torrei, who noted how the proposal gave extra exposure to “Exes.” In short, it was a win-win for all parties involved.

Torrei revealed she has a new man in her life that was by her side when “Atlanta Exes” became a trending topic on Twitter. Unlike Kevin, Torrei stated that her new man, who is also her manager, is someone that rides for her.

Despite her good fortune with her new man, Torrei admits that she still gets emotional when it comes to speaking on Kevin. Especially with her show. Reason being, according to Torrei, Eniko was the one who broke up her marriage to Kevin when she became his mistress.

On top of that, Torrei admitted to dealing with shady family members after her split with Kevin. The ones that messed her over to get on Kevin’s side. Although she was hurt by her relatives’ efforts to get close to Kevin, Torrei stated that she was is grateful in that it enabled her to tap into the power of prayer to pray over the situation. In addition, Torrei said she made a list of names to pray over and later burn in a “bon fire” to release it and give it to God.

While Torrei started her day chatting about Kevin on the radio, the funnyman remained on her mind Monday night. TMZ.com reported that the exes, who were with their respective mates, ran into each other at Magic City, the infamous strip club, in Atlanta hours after Kevin proposed to Eniko.

While Torrei brought her “Atlanta Exes” co-stars to the club after the show premiered, Kevin and Eniko arrived on the scene around midnight. TMZ noted how Kevin and Torrei were seated within each other’s eyesight. Despite this, the former couple did not say a word to one another. Instead, Kevin let his money do the talking as he made it rain at Magic City by dropping $40,000 with his new fiancé.

On the other side, Torrei kept a poker face by sitting impassively with her new man.

Well you go girl. I’m happy that she is moving on! I really feel for her but at the same time think it is admirable how she has picked uup her life and put the pieces back together to move on with her life!

Ray J Pleads Not Guilty To Groping, Resisting Arrest Charge

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Singer Ray J has pleaded not guilty to groping a woman at a Beverly Hills hotel bar and resisting arrest afterward.

Los Angeles County prosecutors say Ray J — whose legal name is William Ray Norwood — entered the plea Tuesday to misdemeanor charges of sexual battery, vandalism, battery on a police officer and resisting a peace officer.

He’s scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing Aug. 28.

Ray J was arrested May 30 after a woman said he groped her at a bar at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

Police say he refused to leave the bar when they arrived, became unruly and used his feet to shatter a patrol car window after being taken into custody.

Ray J is the brother of singer-actress Brandy Norwood.

Ray J is just a screw up. I know Brandy is just ready to publicly disown his butt! He needs to get it together. Now whether he groped a woman or not remains to be proven. I can’t believe the whole story get told when these celebrities get accused of doing  stuff like that. I guess we will soon see what’s really the truth.
