On Thursday afternoon, an 11 year-old-boy and his 4-year-old sister were left home alone. Two suspects attempted to break in on two separate occasions. On the 3rd try, they gained entry into the residence. But to their surprise, an 11-year-old boy shot the 16-year-old intruder in the head, fatally wounding him. The St. Louis County police found the intruder’s body in the foyer, and captured the second suspect a short time later. At this point, no further details have been released.
The 11-year-old boy and his sister were not harmed in the incident. Sgt Brian Schellman says the gun belongs to the 11-year-old’s mother, and she is cooperating in the investigation.
I’m pretty sure people and the police have a few questions concerning this incident. Why were the children home alone? How did the 11 year-old know where the gun was located and how did he know how to use it?
The way my mind works is; I’m sorry to see a 16 year-old boy dead. I also could only image the effect the shooting is going to have on the 11 year old’s mind. He needs counseling immediately. And on the other hand, it’s good he knew were the gun was at and how to use it. There’s no telling what would have happened to him and his sister. It’s good that he was able to protect his home.
