According to TMZ, Prince’s overdose and following hospital visit in Moline, Illinois, six days prior to his demise was because of his use or overuse of Percocet. The singer was allegedly “unresponsive” during his plane’s emergency landing. The flight personnel called ahead with a report concerning an “unresponsive male” aboard calling it a”medical diversion landing.” Prince was subsequently treated in the airport by emergency medical staff who administered an “Narcan shot” which is an opiate antidote. After being hospitalized for three hours for observation, Prince left to return to Paisley Park in Minnesota.
Another source reports that the night after that, Prince hosted a dance party at Paisley Park, where some fans said he looked fine and seemed irked by reports of an illness. “Wait a few days before you waste any prayers,” he said.
Prince was found unresponsive Thursday in an elevator at his Paisley Park compound in suburban Minneapolis and could not be revived, sheriff’s officials said.
Authorities say there were no signs of trauma on Prince’s body when he was found unresponsive at his home, and that suicide isn’t suspected in the musician’s death.
Prince’s autopsy was completed on today at 1 p.m. CDT, Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office announced in a press release.
They did not reveal the cause of death but did say that the musician’s body would be released to his family. Sources from their office also said that they would report “anything relevant to the investigation” to the authorities who are still investigating Prince’s death.
The medical examiner’s office noted that the results of their autopsy may take several days and the full toxicology report may take weeks.
