Comfort Suites…

“Ckhm, ckhm, ckhm,” Sizzle choked as he put the molie out in the ashtray. Instantly he grew nervous as the combination of the crack and marijuana overrode his thought process. “Shit,” He gasped as his eyes darted around the room in a wave of paranoia. He dashed to the door and peeked through the peephole and saw that the hallway was empty. Then he jetted to the window and glanced through the vertical blinds. “Pish,” he exhaled to hisself as he shook his head in disappointment. “I need to quit trippin” he told himself as he looked down at the bypass to see cars speedin’ past the hotel. A smile spread across his face as a school bus cruised by. “Go Giants” was painted on the windows in purple and gold. He began to reminisce about his days as forward on the varsity basketball ball squad. They called him Sizzle because he stayed hot. He had a deadly jump shot and his crossover would break your ankle. He went on to play four years at Purdue. Then, he was picked in the 1st round by Indiana during the NBA draft. He was Mr. Indiana, an All-American, born and raised a Hoosier. The whole state was excited to have one of their own playin’ for the team. Sizzle had the potential to be an all-star. But, he started experimentin with cocaine. After a couple arrest for public intoxication and allegations of sexual battery, he was labeled as trouble. Once his contract expired, nobody picked him up. He continued to train and his agent arranged for him to try out for some of the best teams in the league but he couldn’t shake the temptation of sex and coke. He looked sloppy on the court. Some tryouts he would show up late and others he would blow off – literally! He would be in the hotel room getting his dick sucked, snortin lines as long as train smoke while his agent called his cell phone repeatedly. But he still wanted to live life as a professional ball player. He continued to run in the same circles and tried to support his lifestyle through gambling and sellin powder.

“Zzzzzzz…zzzzzzzzz…zzzzz” Sizzles Android vibrated on the nightstand, snappin’ him out of his daze. As he walked around the bed to answer the phone he noticed Dezi’s beautiful smile flashin on the screen. She’s his girlfriend out in Cali. She’s a model. Her light brown skin and long slim legs are sure to have her on the cover of every major magazine in the country. “Hey babe, what’s up?” Sizzle smiled as he answered the phone and plopped down on the bed. “Half a million dollars. That’s what’s up.” A deep voice grumbled on the other end of the line. And immediately, Sizzle’s stomach dropped to the floor. “Where’s Dezi”? Sizzle asked as he began to panic. “She’s safe…for now.” The voice replied sharply. It was something about that deep, steady tone that sent chills up Sizzle’s spine. The caller had a threatening silence in the way he spoke. “Muh fucka, if you…”

“You’re not in the position to may any threats” the voice responded, stopping sizzle in the middle of his sentence. Then he paused for a second to give his words time to take effect. “A half million….one week.” Then the line went dead. “Fuck!” Sizzle screamed out loud as he banged his fist on his leg. Then, he selected Dezi’s number in his cell phone and hit send….

“Hey ay this is Dez. Sorry, I’m not by my phone but if you’ll… “

“Shit” Sizzle cussed to himself as he hit end. Then he tried again and again….and again. It went to straight to voicemail every time.

“Oh God, no,” Sizzle cried out as he grabbed his head in despair. He can’t believe he got her mixed up in his bullshit. He ran up a gambling debt out in Vegas and went through a loan shark to pay it off. He had enough cocaine to get everything square away be he tricked it all off partyin’ out in Cali. All he owed was a quarter million, now it’s doubled…

“Tap-tap-tap,” came a light knock at the door. Sizzle jumped in fear as his eyes scanned the room. Quietly, he slid his hand inside the night stand next to the bed and pulled out his .25 caliber handgun, then tipped to the door. “This girl always late,” he sighed in relief as he tucked his pistol and opened the door. “Hey boo.” I’esha smiled, poppin her gum as she strutted into the room. “Did you get the conversation on your phone?” Sizzle asked impatiently as he shut the door. “You takin me shoppin tomorrow?” I’esha shot back over her shoulder as she blew a bubble. She’s a cute lil thang. Light skinned, 5’4 and curvy. But she’s typical. The high point in her life is that she’s fuckin with an ex-NBA player. But this bitch thinks she’s a star ever since he flew her out to Hollywood to go to a movie premier last spring. You can’t tell that ho shit…

“Didn’t I say I would?” Sizzle snapped as he became more restless by the minute. “Shit nigga keep your promises. I’ve been waitin on you to take me to the mall since you been back for the holidays, and you still ain’t been by my momma’s house.” I’esha replied as she sat on the bed and kicked her boots off. “Girl I got you just let me hear it,” He said anxious to hear what was said. “Boy, I tell you,” I’esha exhaled as she rolled her eyes. Then, she reached in her purse for her cell phone. She sat on the bed lookin sexy as hell while she slid her finger across the screen. Then…

“So how much them niggas gonna be sittin on?” Jabari’s voice came over the speaker on Iesha’s cellphone. “I’ ont know boo. I think like 10 bricks.” I’esha’s replied as you heard her popping her gum on the recording. “Hell yeah, we gonna stick them niggas up Saturday night. Don’t trip, we gonna tear you off for hittin us with the info, aiight? Them niggas ain’t gonna have no idea who hit em up. Fuck them niggas really,” Jabari said wit confidence. “Just be careful. They just killed some niggas for talking about robbin ‘em. They don’t be playin.” Iesha warned. “Maan, Fuuuuck them niggas. They can get it just like anybody else…”

“Aw yeah, that’ll do it,” Sizzle said rubbin his hands together as he began calculating figures in his head. “Send that shit to my phone.” He instructed as I’esha laid across the bed. “Uhn-uhn. Not til we go shoppin.” She replied shakin her head as she continued to pop her gum.

“Maybe this’ll persuade you a lil bit.” Sizzle smiled as he held up a stick of powder. Then a wide grin spread across her face as she eyed the lil bag of nose candy…
