Idrissa Akuna Elba turns 43 today. The father of two was born in Hackney, London to a Sierre Leonean father and a Ghanian mother, Elba maintains his status as one of the world’s most celebrated actors. The Golden Globe Award winner is also best known for his portrayals in thriller, historical, action, family and comic book feature films including; “No Good Deed,” “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,” “Obsessed,” “American Gangster,” “Daddy’s Little Girls,” “Thor” and others. His performances in the HBO series “The Wire” and BBC One’s, “Luther” have shown the actor’s range of TV characters. Additionally, the four time Emmy nominee is a hip-hop musician who DJ’s using the name, DJ Big Driis or Big Driis the Londoner.
“I’m an ambitious person,” says the famed sex symbol. “I never consider myself in competition with anyone, and I’m not saying that from an arrogant standpoint. It’s just that my journey started so, so long ago, and I’m still on it and I won’t stand still.
