I do not condone abuse in any way, shape, or form!
Ok here we go.
On Sunday the Grammys aired. I don’t really get into too many award shows anymore because they 1) focus too much on fashion and not enough on the craft supposedly being awarded and 2) they are all about theatrics and creating that negative/positive shock value. It’s too much. The majority of the Grammys were focused on the unexpected death of Whitney Houston however another topic gained a lot of attention and that was Chris Brown.
It has been over 2 years since the infamous Chris and Rhianna abuse incident. As much as Chris would love for this to die it will not. He does need to suck it up and realize that he did what he did and he should be forever apologetic and sensitive to abusive subjects. I haven’t seen that coming from him at all. He thinks this attention he is getting is just people ‘hating’. No boo, it’s not hating! But as I watched Chris performing on stage for the first time in about 3 years I also watched the comments on Facebook and Twitter materialize. Comments like ‘Chris Brown sucks’ and ‘Why are the Grammys supporting this woman beater?’ clouded the media site. I couldn’t help but wonder though…..what should Chris Brown be doing?
I have 2 rules in my life 1) don’t fuck with my kids and 2) don’t fuck with my money! Never will I knock somebody’s hustle to provide for their family. I am not sure what people want this boy to be doing right now. Should he be in prison serving a life sentence? Should he be allowed to work ever again? What should he be doing? No one has given me a concrete answer to that question and I’m still waiting for a legitamate answer and the journalistic side of me want to seriously know. This boy (who obviously has an anger problem from the stupid ish he tweets about) has way too many people dependent on him and if he is ostracized to the point where he cannot use his God given talent guess what? All of those people will be out of a job. I still think he should get his ass beat one good time for what he did (yeah I know 2 wrongs do not make ish right but the shit will feel good!) but I do not believe he should stop making money.
Staying on the subject of beating I read some disturbing tweets from young girls mostly straight out of high school still smelling of breast milk. All of them collectively said, “Chris Brown can beat on me whenever he wants to, he is so fine!”
This disgusts me! I’ve been punched and choked while my kids watched and let me tell you the shit hurts! A permanent scar will forever be embedded in me. Those incidents sits in me eating away at my insides like cancer as much as I wish I could erase those moments, lets be real, I can’t. With the choking incident I hurt physically for over a week. There was nothing cute, erotic or exciting about that at all! That fucks with you long-term wise. I still feel in my head that this is what I deserve, that this is what love is for me so for uneducated, young ass girls to testify to the world that Chris Brown can beat them up simply because he’s hot disgusts me and makes that sour spit fill up in my mouth!
What has happened to the youth I have no idea! Somewhere along this thing called life little girls have wondered way off track . I blame the acceptable society and the parents on this one. Little girls having babies when their brains haven’t finished developing to its full potential is a big part of the problem. I will not sit up here and pretend like I have the solution but I need my younger generation to stop accepting this brutal abuse! I know Chris Brown did not make these little girls say those comments but I would think he would have the sense enough to go on Twitter and address these little girls and tell them this is not cute behavior. Then again who will listen to little ol me?
I want to know your take on the whole situation. Should Chris Brown stop singing or should he be thrown under the bus for life? I really want someone to answer that legitamate question. I am not guaranteed I will like what you have to say but I want the conversation to start for this touchy, controversial subject so we as a whole can create solutions.
Peace and luv!
