Modern Day Uncle Tom or Realist?

Toure is pretty much known for voicing his opinion especially when it comes to the black community. I’m not sure if that is a good thing or not. Every time I hear anything from him all I can do is shake my head. Everyone has a right to their own opinion but how much time after that person say something do you have to wait before you can curse them out for saying stupid shit?
A lot of people really do need to have their phones taken away or any device that will allow them to hop on a social media network especially if they have enough clout that people will notice what they say immediately and share or retweet it. We all know about the Trayvon Martin case, you are affected by it in one way or another. Toure took to Twitter and said some…well you read and tell me if it was insensitive:
“You’re Zimmering me = You’re killing me.”
Was it a big deal to you? I haven’t marinated on it enough so I wanna know what you think about the tweet? So many people have complained about his comment he eventually apologized, sort of. “Fine. It was a bad joke. Obviously not meant to be heartless. Days and days of intellectual discourse re Trayvon went over some heads I see. My position on Trayvon has been clear for days. I shouldn’t have attacked his murderer with a facetious attempt at dark humor.”
Will someone shut this brotha up and guide him back to where his common sense was last seen? Do he have a PR person? If he does I suggest he fire him/her asap. He is a father for Christ’s sake, how would he feel if he was in Trayvon’s parents’ place and someone joked about it? Guarantee he would be shitty. He has clearly forgotten how to be empathetic to sad situations. Uncle Tom or a realist? Definitely Uncle Tom!
Let me hit you with another one. Half creator of DefJam, turned fashion designer, turned author, turned vegan and philanthropist Russell Simmons also had this message to say to black people. He let blacks know that we should not start a race war over Trayvon’s murder. As much as people are calling him an Uncle Tom I have to agree with him. Think about it, what happens when we have something in groups? We fight. Small things not remotely important enough to fight over will send us over the edge. Don’t act like you don’t know what I am talking about. For Trayvon we cannot fail him by fighting the same way G. Zimmerman did. Yeah, yeah an eye for an eye but why run the risk of killing more innocent people in the process of dishing out revenge? At the end of the day we may feel satisfied with putting justice into our own hands but we will not have solved the problem. They already view up as violent why prove them right? I’m putting the realist label on Russell.
We need to stand our ground, approach and create a game plan just as diligent and passionate as we have in putting together these marches and sites/blogs. And we also need to stop killing each other. we can’t solve the violence aimed at us from other races if we can’t stop the violent behavior we have toward each other. Can I get an Amen?!
Hopefully enough of you have taken those fantasy glasses off so we can make some changes in our communities across the board. We need to be the change we want our community to be.
Peace and luv!

Exactly, we have to come together and defeat our enemies within. It’s time to break the planned destructive, cycles of drug abuse, alcoholism and self-hatred that still bonds us to our past. This country is not our home but we were brought here and were forced to adjust to a culture that is not our own. I was descended from a continent that I don’t plan to return to. It’s almost like black people are living in limbo, still searching for a place to call home and never finding it.
It’s extremely sad that we are probably the race that hates on each other the most when we really should be the closest. We got a little freedom and money and we’ve gotten comfortable. We have to stop accepting mediocrity and handle our business. I don’t understand how in the world we can easily kill each other over stuff that is so pety. Lets create jobs, businesses, and unity; that will make us have better communities. Thanks for your comment
