Society has made it clear for as far back as we can remember that Black women are not attractive. With our wide noses, peanut butter spread thighs, pouty lips and table top asses we’ve been ostracized for ages. Even though I am young and really have not experienced too tough the discrimination sistahs have experienced I am fully aware of the current concerns sistahs are facing that is making us take drastic actions to be what society believe to be ‘beautiful’.
When did having curves, luscious lips, thick thighs and perfect apple bottoms become sexy? There is a simple answer to that question however the logic is complicated. If you don’t agree you have the right to comment below but here’s my theory. For some time the ‘in’ shape was everyone had to be rail thin in order to be classified as beautiful, healthy, iconic. Major fashion designers didn’t want to fuck with you if you weren’t rail thin (still the same way actually). Then J-Lo popped up on the scene with that ass and America has been hooked ever since. Now I do consider my Latina, Puerto Rican and Mexican mamis as apart of my culture as do many Blacks do however outside races do not feel the same way. For whatever reason having an ass was now sexy. We Black women shrugged our shoulders because we did not see what the fuss was about. As the hype grew around that Ass-et of J-Lo’s society praised this Puerto Rican mami for not looking like an anorexic doll. Black women stood behind her because we felt like now we would be admired for our thickness too, but we were disappointed because we did not. While more and more non-black women started getting noticed a shift in Black women changed our minds about J-Lo and other celebrated women. Some of us hopped off the J-Lo express real quick and even started hatin on the girl even though she was not the one to blame. Hell even our own brothas did not want us in their videos; white women or the yellowist chick was in high demand. We just shook our heads and enclosed our hate and somewhat neglect and went on about our business. I mean we were used to it by then – nothing new.
Once again something happened. Something in our psyche made Black women go thru drastic matters to make ‘them’ (whoever them may be) think our natural thickness (not fatness, don’t confuse the two) was just as sexy too. Sistahs already blessed with nice asses, meat and potatoes thighs and straw sipping lips are now injecting shit into their asses and lips (on the low-low tho) that are not meant to be in our bodies.
Forget the old healthy way of working out and toning our God given bodies sistahs want bigger and better results as quick as yesterday. Now when I see inhuman sized body parts, especially asses, on already beautiful curvy sistahs I have to question their body realness. No I’m not a lesbian (not that it matters if I was or not) I just care. Don’t you see how dangerous this trend is killing and injurying us? I understand you want to look your best physically but you shouldn’t risk your life. What are you teaching your babies? If men don’t want to accept what you have then bounce, that’s their fault. Sounds cheesy but it’s the truth. Black women are now using skin lightening cream to be that ‘redbone’ black men are wanting. I blame Lil Wayne for this one. People can have preferences but there is a fine line between preferences and down right discrimination.
My point is sistahs get back to the basics of being that beautiful you, you once were. I know it’s hard with all of these ‘reality shows’, photoshopped magazine covers to ‘I fell in love with a white girl’ (Gucci Mane) rap artists but stop selling your souls to these fools. If you have to do all of these to impress a man or the next chick then they don’t give a damn anyway. So kick their superficial ass to the curb and love YOU; that’s the name brand you need to be proud of and build up to greatness!
Peace and luv!

Clive Davis has put the brakes on all the alleged reports that he’s making a biopic about the late Whitney Houston’s life.
A rep from Clive’s camp squashed the movie rumors, stating that “there is no truth to this. Clive is not putting together a biopic.”
Reports had stated for the last few days that not only was Davis putting forth the film, but everyone from Willow Smith (as a young Houston) to Rhianna and J Hud would be playing Houston.
Hmmm…maybe someone else is putting the movie together??? What do you think? Should the movie go on? Who should play in it? Is the public ready for a truthful portrayal of the diva? Or is it too soon??
Or is Clive stalling?????
